Try Something New. RIGHT NOW.

When was the last time you challenged yourself and tried something totally new? If it’s been awhile, we understand. But girl, now’s the time to DO IT!  Have you been wanting to try something in particular? Did you set a goal – long, long ago – to try new things? Do it, do it, do it!  Legit no matter WHAT it is, we are over here cheering you on. (Unless it’s illegal or hurts other people. Then – no cheering. ?)

Leaving your comfort zone is hard. We get it, ‘cause we’ve been there too.  However, it is beneficial to leap out of your comfort zone and see what the world has to offer you! You may be surprised…

When you leave your comfort zone, something magical starts to happen…

  1. You jump out of a rut you may or may not have even known you were in.
  2. You may learn a new skill, or at least you tried one and challenged yourself.
  3. Confidence – BOOSTED! When you try something new and succeed, you realize you’re awesome at something you never tried before. This makes you feel great about yourself and your confidence and attitude is instantly boosted.
  4. Gain a new perspective! When you try new things – like a new food or experience a different culture than what you’re used to, you gain knowledge and respect for people and things around you!
  5. Appreciate yourself! When you try a new look you’ve been thinking about, give yourself a new life motto, or just pick up a new hobby – it all turns into self love.  Love and appreciate yourself by trying those new things you’ve been thinking about.

Still stuck in a rut?

Are you a person of habit? Do you visit the same gym everyday? Do you shop at the same grocery store every week? Have you had the same haircut for years now? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you are possibly a person who sticks to routine. Routines can be great! They help us get through daily tasks and keep us sane when life gets busy. Every once in awhile though, it’s fun to shake things up and take a detour from the everyday and try something totally new.

So here’s the challenge:

If you typically lift weights and do cardio at the gym, try a new exercise like yoga, or swimming or get outside and take a day hike (or you know, just throwing this out there, come by our gym and try a PINK FIIT or Iron Yoga class). Have you been eyeing a new hairstyle for a while (we know you have saved pins on Pinterest, girl!) – try it. Try that new exotic restaurant, take that dance class and wear that bold lipstick! Trying new things is scary (we know – it makes us nervous too), but you may surprise yourself and find a new hobby or heck, even a new life path! Even going to a new grocery store can be nerve-wracking, you don’t know where anything is, who knows if people will be nice, etc. etc. But… what if that new grocery store has killer deals and more variety?! And people are actually WAY nicer!? SCORE!

When you try something new no matter how big (skydiving) or how small (a new coffee shop), you discover things about yourself and the world around you. Leaping out of your comfort zone will expand your life experiences and you’ll grow as a person. Once you’ve tried new things, you’ll realize it’s NOT THAT SCARY (unless it has to do with snakes or spiders – then yes, it is scary) and it can be fun! Get out and enjoy all that the world has to offer… NOW!
